Golf is an easy game if the player remembers to use only 70 % of full power for the longer clubs. Then it is possible to hit the ball on the sweet spot every time. The player controls the ball, not the other way round! When control of the ball has been achieved you may increase power to 75% and a bit more progressively as your handicap comes down to single. Then you may use 80%. That will be the maximum power you are allowed to use because beyond that, you are no longer sure of hitting the sweet spot at all. The ball again controls you!
The winner in a round of golf is not decided by how far you can hit your ball. The winner is decided by the total number of strokes you have taken over 18 holes. A lower grand total decides the winner. This is where strategy comes in. On a short par 4 hole, a golfer may decide to tee off using a 3 wood instead of the driver (1 wood). This could be due to the fact that he needs to place the ball near the 135M marker so that he can place it on the green using his favourite iron. Most golfer has a favourite club which can be any one of the 14 clubs in his bag. It can even be the driver or the putter. For most golfers it is a mid iron e.g. #8.
